Step 1: Choosing a Pricing Plan
After installing CommBilling from the Shopify App Store, the first step is to select a pricing plan that best suits your business needs. You will be directed to the pricing plan selection page. Here, you will see different plans available with a breakdown of their features
- Select Your Plan:
Review the features included in each plan, and choose the one that aligns with your business requirements. Click on the "Suscribe" button under your chosen plan. - Confirm Your Selection:
After selecting a plan, confirm your choice by clicking "Continue" or "Confirm Plan." You will then proceed to the initial setup process.
Step 2: Initial Setup
Once you've selected a pricing plan, it's time to set up CommBilling to ensure it operates smoothly with your Shopify store.
A. In "Settings", click on "General"Enter your company details like

Your store's VAT number: This step is crucial as it allows CommBilling to validate your VAT status and ensure compliance with EU

Click on the "Validate" button. CommBilling will automatically verify your VAT number to confirm its validity.
- Add the non mandatory fields : IBAN, BIC and press the buttton "save"
- Activating Triggers (not mandatory)
=>Trigger "Automatically generate an invoice ": activate this feature means CommBilling will automatically generate invoices for each order.
=>Trigger "Automatically generate a Credit Note : Similarly, CommBilling will automatically generate credit notes for refunds or returns if this trigger is activated
- Define sales document numbering : Set the numbering for your documents, then click 'Save' to apply the changes
B. Click on "Customization"
In the Customization tab, you can customize the design of your sales document.
- Choose the sale document you wish to customize (invoice or credit note), then press the 'Edit' button."
- Here, based on your plan, you can personalize the design of your invoices and credit notes, upload your store’s logo, choose color schemes, and add any additional information such as terms and conditions etc
C. Click on "Translation"
CommBilling automatically detects the language configured in your Shopify store and displays the interface accordingly.
If you serve customers across different regions, you can activate the option to automatically send sales documents ( invoices and credit notes) in the customer’s preferred language.
D. Click on "Email"
According to your pricing plan (C-Business only), you can configure the SMTP server in the Email Settings section that CommBilling will use to send emails. You have the option to either customize your own SMTP settings or use CommBilling's SMTP server.
- Configure your personal SMTP server
If you choose to use your personal SMTP server, enter the necessary details, including the server address, port, username, and password, and then press 'Validate".
- Choose CommBilling SMTP server
To ensure that your emails are sent from our server, click on "Default Commbilling Domain then press 'Validate".
- Customize Your Email Template
Customizing your email templates ensures that your messages are aligned with your branding and provide all necessary information to your recipients.
Subject: Enter the subject of the email in the designated field. This is the title that recipients will see when they receive the email.Content: In the content area, enter the text you wish to include in the body of the email. This section allows you to convey important details, instructions, or messages pertaining to the invoice or credit note. Additionally, you can utilize "Generative AI" for assistance in crafting your message.
Once you have added the subject and content, click the "Save" button to apply your changes.
Your email template is now customized and ready to use. Emails will be sent with the subject and content you have specified.
- Automation
To streamline your communication and ensure timely notifications, you can automate the process of sending emails once invoices or credit notes are generated. Enable this setting by clicking the toggle switch.
Your billing app is now configured and ready to use for seamless billing.
